Running Stitch -- Basic sewing stitch for gathering, mending and tucking. Take several stitches
at a time, draw thread through fabric and repeat.
Backstitch -- Bring your needle through the fabric and take a small backstitch putting the
needle out ahead of the preceding stitch. Take another backstitch, this time putting the
needle at the end of the proceeding stitch.
Even Basting -- Make even stitches about a 1/2 inch long the length needed depending where
used.
Overcasting -- Stitch over the edge and through the fabric in the same direction.
